Here’s what ECG has been up to in January!

Generation Fusion Pilot

On January 11th, Wally Johnston, Co-founder and CFO of ECG, attended day seven of the Generation Fusion Pilot Program. We had a guest speaker, Dr. Iole Falorio, from SuperPower, Inc, a high-temperature superconducting wire manufacturer in Glenville, NY.

Our first cohort of Generation Fusion students were able to learn from and participate in demonstrations with an energy engineer working on high-temperature superconducting wire, a material that will be integral in commercial fusion machines.

Stay tuned for scenes from our pilot’s final gathering on February 18th with students, families, teachers, and local officials as we celebrate the climate hope that these young fusion students demonstrate!

Spotlight on Annette Doornbos, External Relations and Development Consultant

Welcome Annette! Annette Doornbos has focused her professional life on working in the public interest. From her early days developing programs for media-related organizations and helping nonprofits tell their story clearly and in compelling terms, Annette increasingly devoted her efforts to fundraising.

Helping organizations build their funding base opened the door to working with an eclectic range of nonprofit entities. From a listener-sponsored radio network to a health center for low-income seniors and on to a national child advocacy organization, Annette has helped address the challenges and championed the impact of national and local public interest organizations.

Most recently, Annette served as Assistant Dean for External Relations and Development at UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy, where she launched and led the development office. During her UC Berkeley tenure, she was instrumental in helping establish research centers for environmental public policy, the future of young Americans and IT and homeland security.

Working with the Energy for the Common Good team brings Annette full circle with the opportunity to address the existential crisis that defines our time and with a reach that touches on all the previous issues she has addressed.
